Hi All,

I recently got this khukri and really think the shapes of the blade and the hilt plus the proportion of blade to hilt represent my ideal for a khukri. However, the 19-3/8 inch blade probably means this khukri was meant for ceremonial rather than utilitarian or combat use (unless the user could have played down lineman for the NFL). Ferrule is steel. The sheath has seen better days and the by knives are missing. As I got the piece, there was no butt cap but because the butt of the hilt was intact, there was dried glue on the butt, and there was a hole drilled in the butt where a butt cap pin would go, I took the liberty of fashioning a new one of steel.

Sincerely,
Till

Spiral,

With me and the khukri on the bathroom scale, there is a 2.5 lb weight gain over just me alone. I have another large khukri and even though that tin chirra blade measures 20.75", it weighs less than this new one. When the two blades are picked up, there is a noticeable difference in weight. I agree that it was probably used for animal sacrifice which is what I meant when I said ceremonial.

Sincerely,
Till
