This little Kukri turned up today at Chatham Dockyard Militaria fair, in Kent UK. Kukris seem to have been a little thin on the ground just lately...well, the type I like!
I'll do some better pictures and measurements tomorrow.

Nice one Dave, looks interesting. The handle and extra long spine groove remind me of some English made examples, like the Underwood kukri. Anyone else see that, or is it just me?

Buttcap looks like it could be a replacement, but it's been on there a while. Handle is beautifully executed.

Chakmak is typical of 'Aircrew' Kukri, looking at previous posts. Vendour has the Karda, but left it at home, although he said he'd bring it next time (maybe I'll get him to post it to me...)
1941 dated Mk2 for size comparison.
What do you think, chaps? I must admit, I thought I'd got all the Kukri I really wanted, then I saw this. I'd just bought a WW1 Battalion type Kukri, which was numbered, but someone had put the blade to a rotary wire brush, so some restoration was required. Anyhow, I managed to sell the Battalion one, later in the day and treated myself to this little beauty!

Chakmak for the above: 5 3/8" Overall length. Not 100% sure it's right for this Kukri. I love the little Kaudi!

Nice one DD!

I can see why you see similarity to some English made pieces Paul, but having seen something similar before, { in presentation format.} I would guess late ww2 india , although the chakmak is probably Nepal army.

Unusual scabbard to! What does it weigh?

Thanks for you input Spiral. I assume you mean the weight of the Kukri, not the scabbard! 12 oz.
The scabbard is interesting as it seems well worn compared to the knife. If it's not the original one, what kind of Kukri would go in it?? It is a bit of a sloppy fit, but the opening needs to be quite wide to accommodate the curve of the blade.
I think it looks quite like one of the 'aircrew' Kukri, but would I be right in thinking that these were just a type of Kukri preferred by flyboys, due to their size, not designed especially for them?
The blade is very sharp and looks like it's had little or no use.

Damn there I've been secretly collecting scabbard weights all these years....

never seen an exactly similar scabbard, so hard to be concise, A photo of kukri layed on scabbard helps a guess towards originality or not.

Flyboys liked small kukri sometimes... Some were probably bought & issued {the classic cmw made piece for& RAAF and the short m.43 style for US aircrew providing Burma air support}, some tank crews liked small as well, Ive also handled one that was reputedly privately bought by a scouser in the chindits as well.

Assuming private purchase.{which seems most likely, then anyone who was in theatre could have bought it if it the one that appealed to them.} But yes aircrew & tank seemed to prefer the smaller ones if carried in theatre.

As you say I doubt if it was it sole design basis.
