Hi guys have an etched blade Kukri to show you, think it's a Birdseye design, thinking 1930s made, has a 13 inch blade,460 Grams ,looks like original Karda n Chakmak and scabbard ,hollow forged blade with a nice feel to it ,steel bolster .
Would love to see some Picts of other etched Kukri from the members ?
Captain I'm sure you have a nice example ,Spiral, Chris .?

Hi Highlander,

Wow, I need a bigger computer screen!

Interesting kukri, I spotted that one a while back too.

Here are a couple of pics of my kukri that's etched in the Buddha's eye style. You'll notice it's a little different from the pattern on yours. That's the first I've seen like that; double row of circles with none of the usual bracket ( ) style.

I don't really have the answer to that question, I'm sure a few of the other members here could give you a pretty decent explanation though.

Personally, I lean towards the auspicious / religious symbol explanation. Placing these types of symbols on weapons was certainly something the Nepalese did. It does to my eye look a bit like the Buddha's eye in this illustration:

I have one like these.
Discussed here viewtopic.php?f=1&t=699&p=7658#p7658
I rather like the all seeing eye concept myself but that is purely my imagination and not based is research. But hey it could mean any one of a thousand ideas.
Nice find again and thank you for sharing.

Kind regards
Captain
