Hi, I have a par of Kukri. From reading this forum and browsing the internet I suspect they are 'tourist Kukri'. The story behind them is that I was given them by my Uncle who was in the Black Watch and fought alongside the Gurkas. I brought them back with him after he fought in Kenya. My Grandma banned them from the house when he got back as she hated them and how sharp they were.

I've owns them for around 15 years he brought them back to the UK in the 50's. The spine isn't very thick, approx 6-7mm they weigh around 540grams. Their length is around 17". I'd love some advice before I try and do some restoration work, nourish the leather, get rid of rust etc and of course sharpen! The bands, end handle caps and sheath points look silver colour as opposed to brass.

I'll try and attach a few more pics... I can only seem to upload 3 right now

Many thanks in advance.

Hi there! What a great story! How did you come to be in Kenya with him during the mau mau uprising? Sounds fascinating!

The chrome plated piece is for display only, the other one may or may not be usable, neither of them were British army Gurkha issue, but who knows who may have bought them.
