 Post subject: Villager type

Location: Dunfermline ,Scotland
Have a villager type kukri ,it's a 12 inch hollow forged blade 450 grams ,bone inlay ,quite a dark look to the blade ,would this be the forging prossess that did this ?feels like it would be a great user kukri .metal bolster and butt cap .
What date would you put on this

Nice find! Some villigers are left with forge scale finish..

If the blacker areas are harder than the unblacked steel in same area its forge scale.... To me it looks more like chemically induced patina though.

People do this to darken blades or to help reduce corrosion. mustard, ketchup and such like things do it.

Looks 30s era to me. I don't think its realy a villager either..

Interesting Spiral thanx for the info .how would you describe it if not a villager type .?is it a fighting kukri ?

Again, lovely blade and I like the 'sun' keeper on the hilt. The way the blade overhangs the Kaudi reminds me of this one of mine, which also has a 'sun' keeper.
