Idea for a online database of khukuri inscriptions:

http://khukurilipi.blogspot.com

We can have multiple authors who can post images and notes.

I split this out as a separate sticky post to encourage as many people as possible to participate.

Thanks, Berk.

Yes, I hope more people sign up and post their inscribed khukuris.

Also, I have posted a few inscriptions, but I don't know/recall which khukuris they're from (longleafs or other), so if anyone can fill in/let me know those details, I'd appreciate it.

Hi Guys, That sounds a great idea, I emailed you a little earlier Beoram, assuming your email is still the .DK ending one?

Do you just want the photos or blade length or weight & thickness as well?

SPiral - sorry I hadn't checked that email. You're signed up now.

Other info on the blade would be great, if you have it.

Hi Spiral - I fixed the photos. You can upload photos in the blog itself - there's a little button which looks like a "Photo", click that and you can upload photos. [Otherwise you have to go into the html and manually put them in (in html code).]

Bringing this to the top in hopes of attracting Beoram's attention to a non-kukri translation request:

Hello all,

Since you have a topic on inscriptions going and all....

I bought what looks to be a longleaf pattern off a non-khuk lover, it came from the 2003 cache.

Sent it off to Yangdu for a project and she translated it to read Shree Tin Chandra Bawani Darar/43

It's the bawani darar/43 part I'm having trouble finding info on, any ideas?

Thanks for any and all help!

Patrick

Welcome to the forum! How about posting a pic?
John Walter lists a Bhawanidal Company in his appendix of Royal Nepalese Army units.

It's currently being weighed, measured, and photographed for an undisclosed reason. I can update when a nice lady in Reno tells me I can.

I can get my own photos up when it makes it's way back to FL.

If the undisclosed reason has anything to do with duplicating the old pattern in the new shop, I can attest that weighing is an important part of the process.

I can neither confirm nor deny any of the afore mentioned purposes or intentions for having sent the Khukuri to Reno. Let us say, instead, that it was sent for documentation of historic design and translation.

Yes, that's it. Nothing to see here.

Also, Berk it may be a bit heavy but soooo gorgeous!
