I picked this 453g hollow forged Issued kukri recently. Stamped 2/4 GR on spine. The profile of this blade is very similar (I think the same issued from their regimental headquarters in Bakloh) to those in a WW1 photo of the Kit inspection of the 1/4 GR in France. I think the same so I bought it as I was convinced it is an issued kukri for these two units during WW1. It is a lite well made kukri. The 2/4 GR saw service in Mesopotamia during WW1.

The butt cap and also a photo of the 1/4 GR during a Kit Inspection in Le Sart France during WW1. The Riflemen have their kukri displayed and the profile is almost identical.

Very nice looking bat'issue Kukri. It's always a pleasure for me to see new examples of one of my favourite Kukri types.
It will interesting to see what further information comes to light with regards to the markings.

Excellent, and thanks for sharing
Captain

Here you go. I did pick this up from the USA and I think it had been with two people over there for some time.

No one is... were all students... Apart from egotistical arseholes of course!

Looks a lovely ww1 era piece with genuine ww2 marks to me Ramba... {Edited to correct. typo. ww1 marks.}

Unusual to just see unit marks.... But thats why were all students realy....

Certainly implies made as part a batch for 2/4 th to me... By commercial kukri factor.

Thanks for sharing Its a great piece...
